A tribute to the baby faced assassin.
August 29, 2007
When I first saw you in 1996, I never knew you would become as big as you are today. Eleven years have passed and your contributions for United is undeniably one of greatest things I will remember supporting the Red Devils along these years starting from 1990 when I was just in standard 4. It made the failure of signing Alan Shearer look secondary and the rest was history.
Although you do not have the flair/head butting skills of Zinedine Zidane, the speed of Ronaldo, nor the ability to score goals with your hands like Maradona, you have what I called it, one of the deadliest finisher in front of the goal post and you also score the most important goals in your United career. It’s not surprising when you are dubbed as the baby faced assassin in the team even though your role has been reduced to ’supersub’ at a certain point of your career.

Gary Kelly was trying to check just in case Solskjær IS impregnated by the ball.
Like almost every fans would remember, you would be most remembered for your most important goal you scored against the Bavarian team in Nou Camp. Without that particular goal, United might not write themselves into the history book for winning the historic treble and heck, Sir Alex might not even receive his knighthood sooner! It might look like an ordinary goal to many people but it’s a skill of being at the right place at the right to make that tap.

Solskjær scored the historic goal that every United fans would remember for the rest of their lives.
One would call it the ultimate curi ayam skills but hey, you scored way too many important goals. I remember the Barcelona goal the most because I actually hugged a cactus that was located right beside me when you scored and of course I was in excruciating pain later on but I didn’t bother about it anyway due to the seething euphoria in me. Once again I would like to say many thanks again for your priceless contributions for team and you definitely deserve to be ranked alongside with the United legends.
