After the successful launch of the first Malaysian space tourist to the IRS ISS, we should have a new ambition. It would be too premature to be satisfied at the prospect of sending 2 Bolehnauts to space and it is perfectly normal to achieve more. Never mind about wasting taxpayers moolah (if they make more noises after this they will be shot like how the Burmese junta execute their monks), never mind if the project is about brewing teh tarik in space because such discovery will only inspire local brewer to revolutionize their outdated tarik-ing skills.
It can also be the golden opportunity to transform the national drink into a well known brand like Setarbak. Trust me, it would be a dream come true for many Malaysians to have teh tarik available all around the world. At least I can brag this to the ang mohs when I’m in their country, “hey that’s my national drink, dammit!”. This mission is going to be the partial contribution of sending our men to space.
As I said above, the Malaysian government and Malaysians in general should not rest their laurels and be contented with their new found achievement. It’s time for Malaysian scientists to come up with an ingenius blue print to send the first Proton car to Mars. The Russians have their Sputnik, the Yanks have their Apollo, the Chinese have their Shenzhou, Malaysians should design their own spacecraft and name them Unggas (birds).
When I say design blue prints for our own Unggas Spacecraft, by all means DO NOT adopt the mentaliy of our national car makers. I hope they will not rebadge another obsolete Shenzhou and call it the first ‘Malaysian made’ spacecraft. However, seeing time is running out for our local teh tarik scientists before Wawasan (vision) 2020 3030 approaches, it is most likely our very own Unggas spacecraft will be rebadge from ShenZhou.
The Prime minister can’t wait that long (only if he holds the office long enough which I don’t think he will) to witness the historic event in his lifetime before he dies happily ever after in his tomb. I guess it doesn’t matter anymore if the spacecraft is a rebadge version because the most important mission of all is to send our first Proton Car to Mars.
That I believe, is going to be Malaysia’s ultimate achievement of all time.
