Honestly, I do not know what’s the fuss of refusing to wearing a songkok. How they perceived that wearing a songkok is becoming a malay or muslim is beyond me. This is one of the many reasons why I dislike Chinese Ultras. Look, it’s not like His Royal Highness is asking you to sunat yourself before entering the Palace okay? What is so becoming a Malay by wearing a songkok?
No one is asking you to nail it on your skull for the rest of the eternity. Just for the swearing in will do. It’s the palace protocol. What is so hard about it? Heck, I even wear a saree before, not to mention a songkok and the traditional malay outfit. I felt so sexy because I can show off my belly button with saree wahahahkakakaka. Okay I only wore that for a school play by the way. But does wearing songkok makes me a Malay celup? Some one even had the audacity to liken wearing a songkok for chinese is like asking Malay to eat pork.
What kind of stupid analogy is that? If this continues, I am not surprised why some Malays had a general perception that DAP is a chinese chauvinist party. I believe DAP is trying to shed its chinese chauvinist perception but I am afraid their efforts will be undone by few individuals I mentioned above.
