Ghost = Hantu

I enjoy watching dramas from Popiah Pictures. They are one the production companies that churn out quality shows out there. I am currently watching their latest work, Ghost. Although the title is an outright copy from the original Ghost which stars Patrick Swayze, this show is pretty good for local standards. I really enjoyed watching this one because this show has a local flavour in it.

Something that can proudly makes you proclaim this show a Malaysian drama rather than a Malay or Chinese drama. I am not a great fan of local productions, that’s for sure. So it’s not so easy for me to compliment a local drama. I even find most of the local chinese dramas boring. According to President, the shows are low budget production, which explains most of the re-used set. If their production is really a low budget one, it is pretty impressive for them to come out with the end product.

The theme and sub theme song written by Douglas Lim is really nice. But most of the songs he wrote and sang for popiah picture’s production is good anyway. It is a pity that he did not make a compilation out of it because I am willing to spend Rm 50 just to buy the original copy. Anyway, there is one thing I do not like about their dramas. Most of them had half ass endings which I totally abhor after following their dramas weeks after weeks. The pacing of the shows are running good enough but is often spoiled by half ass endings. Sometimes most of the endings made you feel like there might be sequels in the future but it never came.
