Move over Optunis Prime, Here comes RPK.

Date May 10, 2008

Although I already anticipated that RPK would eventually be charge by for his ’seditious’ writings, my heart sank when I see the photos of him getting handcuffed by the cops. When I was young, my hero is Gaban, Baja Hitam, Ultraman-with-a-zip-on-his-back, Optunis Prime, or Pukiman. But if you ask me now who is my super hero, I would gladly answer RPK. No matter how badly they are going to say about RPK in the mainstream papers, it will never change the fact that he is already a true Malaysian hero in my heart. Some how it is going to be weird not reading his constant flow of informative and humourous articles while he’s in prison. Of course, I want RPK to be released not only because I want to read his articles. I want him to be released because he is no hardcore criminal who deserves such treatment from the authorities. The whole fiasco makes it look like the authorities are more terrified of intellectuals rather than real criminals.

Quote “……authorities are more terrified of intellectuals rather than real criminals…..”

Reminds me of a new anime series where the authorities are “Improving Information” or something like that, and lots of books/papers and stuff are burned or banned.

I agree….. it’s a strategical move to make more people realize about what is going on…
