As I blogging at this hour, it simply means I can’t sleep. Not because I am on amnesia or something but the sense of euphoria is running high in my adrenaline. After 9 years of not winning the European Champions League, Manchester United are finally champions again. It is extremely ironic though. I started supporting the Red Devils in 1990, and they finally won the Champions League in 1999.
Right now, after another 9 year cycle, Manchester United is champions again. I do hope I don’t have to wait another 9 years for them to win the famous trophy again. Fuck I would be 37 years old by then. When United had their worst season in 2005/2006, many of my fellow MU ‘fans’ started to abandon the team and lend their support to Chelsea. Bloody glory hunters. Despite their embarrassing showing in that following season, I continued to support them like never before. Ok enough of some of the boring history I had along my support to United.
It’s been awhile since I stayed up late because I no longer practice my usual nocturnal lifestyle as I already planned my visit to a nearby mamak stall. It’s not like United will always get to the European Champions League final on yearly basis so I need to make a point by staying up late tonight (I am so going to be dead later on) to catch the match. I went there alone but I manage to make some friends with some of the United fans. Overall, the match was nerve wrecking in the 2nd half with all the ‘kena tiang’ (not once but thrice!) incidents and every one was jumping from their seats. I didn’t jump.
But I went berserk,
and jumped on the table after I saw these memorable scenes on TV.

The feeling of euphoria is extremely difficult to contain when I thought United are screwed after Ronaldo missed his penalty. Mana tahu John Terry also missed his penalty. He should really thank God that England is not even in Euro 2008 otherwise they are going to screw up in penalties again. I really hate penalties but I am going to make an exception that this would be my favourite penalties of all time. As the team lifted the trophy for the first time since 1999, tears began to flow from my bloated eyeballs. I still cannot sleep, I need some one to inject some sedatives on me.
