Today is 8/8/8. Very ‘ong’ punya number. At least to chinese anyway. It is also the opening ceremony date of the Olympics. I had no idea when is the opening date for the games until my friend reminded me it was 8/8/8. I might catch the ceremony on TV later since some one bragged it will be the most expensive opening in the Olympic history. Not too sure if they include the hidden cost to make it the most expensive event in the history. Or maybe it is the amount of money they need to spend on detention centres just in case the protesters might go berserk during the games.
But I don’t think they are going to deploy hundreds of tanks to crush them like pancakes similar to what they did in Tiananmen 1989. Although I had my own annoyance on the policies of the Chinese government, I am more annoyed with George Whacky Bush’s comments on their human rights history. He seem to forget he holds the record of plundering nations into chaos. If there is an event of modern day genocide in the 21st century in the Olympics, they will definitely win a gold medal in this category. If China is sure to win a gold medal in the violation of human rights event, then United States and A should have their winning moments in their best events too.
