I bumped into a really old friend at the post office last weekend but he looked depressed.
Me:- Hey, what’s wrong? Are you okay?
Him:- I’m not okay, I don;t even know if I should feel okay.
Me:- What is the problem?
Him:- This is really embarrasing.
Me:- Come on, tell me. Don’t keep me waiting.
Him:- It’s about my son…
Me:- Your son??? What happened???
Him:- He got 7As for his PMR!!!!!!!!
Me:- What the hell? He got 7 As and you are depressed??
Him:- That’s not the point, as long he did not get STRAIGHT A(s), it’s not good enough.
Me:- Look, when I was his age, I could barely score 1 A for my PMR. You should be happy he scored a string of A(s) for you.
Him:- 7A(s) is nothing today. He scored 7 A(s) and he’s still a nobody in his school or perhaps his district.
Me:- Then how many A(s) do you expect him to score? 20? This is not SPM.
Him:- As long it is STRAIGHT A(s) then it should be good enough. Even if he scored 19 A(s) but then last subject isn’t an A it is still bad for his record.
Me:- So Straight A(s) is all it matters today?
Him:- YES, in a way.
Me:- So tell me, what is the grade of the non A subject?
Him:- A horrible C!!!!
Me:- What did he got for C then?
Him;- He got C for Chinese!!!! And C in Hokkien also means DIE! What is so good about that??
Me:-…………………………………………………………..
