You know, we malaysians have the talent of making something very bad to sound very good or at least it should be pleasant to listen at. One good example is money politics. Do you know actually know what ‘money politics’ really means?
Well, money politics or not, it is another alternative name for corruption but you can’t deny the former is politically correct than the latter especially when you are an editor for a newspaper. I am sure their master is not going to like it very much should the headlines of tomorrow’s paper might be written asĀ “Datuk XYZ is guilty of corruption”.
But if you replace corruption with money politcis, I think it won’t make Datuk XYZ look so bad by saying he is guilty of money politics, right? Do you remember our famous ex minister of misinformation once said the our newspaper should not publish too many stories about the rising crime rate (murder cases especially) because it will make the country look really bad?
If he’s still holding that post today, don’t be surprised the word “murder” will be replaced by something else and your headline might be published like this, “Soul reaping is on the rise in Kampung ABC”. Don’t laugh because ’soul reaping’ could become the next word to replace ‘murder’. At least when a malaysian murderer is convicted in the court, he can always tell the judge that he wants to become a soul reaper to free our demented souls.
