The Street Fighter 4 trailer is an absolute killer. Too bad it will only be released somewhere around 2009. In terms of gaming years, that’s a pretty long way to go. Playing Street Fighter brings back a lot of memories because I started to play the first one way back in 1989.
Owning a game console back then was considered a luxury because not everybody’s wallet is fat enough to buy one. I didn’t own any console until I was 12 years old and I mostly get my daily console/arcade fix at a nearby gaming parlour. Despite of having the comfort of playing consoles at home, I think Street Fighter is best experienced on an arcade machine.
Not only you to get experience the intensity of the game playing in a noisy environment, you get challengers from all walks of life. If you are good, finding eager players to challenge is not a problem. That is one of the best things with playing arcade games. The only catch at that time was, you have to be on legal age to enter one.
Otherwise you spend most of time behaving like a gaming refugee trying to evade the occasional spot checks from the cops. Yeah I was at an illegal age when I entered one and the arcade operator doesn’t seem to care. Going back to street fighter, my favorite Street Fighter series is Street Fighter 2 and the Street Fighter Zero series.
I never liked Street Fighter III because it lacks punch and it was never interesting enough to make me addicted to it and I totally abhor Street Fighter EX. I still loved Street Fighter 2 until today despite the fact some asshole programmer modified a ridiculous version of it. I think some of you might remember there was a version of it where you can shoot many fireballs.
To me, that was not Street Fighter. That was more like Fire Fighters. The location music for Street Fighter 2 was totally awesome. Vega’s theme music was one of my favorite, although he was very annoying for flying around by making that Spanish moan. No matter how annoying he is, I think he is the first virtual pondan celebrity.
Street Fighter 2’s music left a huge impact in me and I never really liked other BGM from the newer Street Fighter series. Do you have any sweet memories from playing Street Fighter? If yes, I would like to hear your stories
ps:- I meant STREET FIGHTER experience. Not STREET FIGHTING experience
