tomatoinc made a very interesting comment in my Hang Tuah post. It is long but informative and I thought it deserve a post of its own.

what you have written is no controversy at all. If you have analysed the “official” history of malaysia and tanah melayu in general, you’ll realize a strong message of “nationalistic” and “malay-hood” where in reality, malaysia has always been a mixed basket nation.

Apart from Hang Tuah’s blind loyalty message, it has been speculated that The “Hang” brothers are actually from China, who came as bodyguards of Hang Li Po. It was also noted that in the written history of Tanah melayu then, such as the Malay Annals, there is no explicit mention of Hang Tuah and his merits.

Further dissertation of our nation’s “glory” history or at least our secondary textbooks will reveal a strong emphasis on the islamization of the country, where as, the influence of hindusm, sankrits, bugis, srivijaya, china, siam are all downplayed. British colonialism was played as an evil force, where as, there have been occasions where they were rightly in abolishing slavery, unruly tax, organised towns/economy etc etc.

Yes, history is written by the victor. But in these days, it seems like our history is just another political tool by our political master (whom themselves have not studied the actual history of the country).

There are a lot more un-written history that needed to be retold:
1) May 13th
2) operasi lalang
3) Bank BUmiputera scandal
4) Reformasi movement
5) labour unions and left wings efforts in gainin independence
6) the undeniable roles of PKM (communist) in accelerating our independence
7) the 1947 hartal organised by putera-acmja

welcoem to the real world.

Sigh… if only history is taught in this way during my schooling days then no one will ever complain Sejarah is boring.

What I write here might be controversial but I’d like to say I do not like Hang Tuah at all. Sure, he’s brave, strong, good at martial arts and has all the package to become a super hero but I am always baffled on why he killed his good friend Hang Jebat for a zalim (ruthless) Sultan. Thanks to his blunder, he manage to transform me into Hang Tulan.

Such act was chivalrous in the past. Hang Jebat stood up for Hang Tuah when he was wrongly accused for something he didn’t commit. Yeap, he was accused for having an affair with one of the Sultan’s concubine. It’s like accusing Elton John for sleeping with Elizabeth Taylor.

Now, such allegations are very serious at that time and to accuse him without any proof makes it even dumber. Hang Jebat was very upset because his good friend was wrongly accused so he went on a rampage to tuntut bela. But knowing Hang Tuah’s unconditional loyalty can be quite idiotic at times, he killed his own friend who fought for his innocence.

Hang Jebat has always been the true hero to me for upholding justice and fought against tyranny and I always thought Hang Tuah was overrated. Hang Jebat definitely deserves the legendary status as much as Hang Tuah. Sure, loyalty to your master is noble but when some assholes make use of this blind loyalty, it’s called stupidity.

Or perhaps this story was heavily promoted and politicized to send subtle messages to the rakyat not to revolt against the current ruling government no matter how shitty they are? History are always written by the victors, no? The only difference in present day is, the royal family no longer rules but they are just replaced by a group of ultramen.

It’s funny to see how the ministers reacted in knee jerking reaction at the singapore’s MM remark. It’s even funnier when I see all these people made a big hu ha out of this trivial matter. But something was amiss. Why no ministers are making the same hu ha when Indonesia is accusing us of stealing their culture and folk song? One is taking sense but the other is making a big deal out of it. The ‘big brother’ is being plain unreasonable but not many Malaysian ministers are making noise out of it. Oh wait, I think they did. They responded by beating the crap out of their immigrants.

Hmmm I noticed something. The conspirators of the you-know-what is multiracial. Can see Malay, Chinese and Indian in the conspirator team. Now who says Malaysia is facing serious racial problem? Can’t seem to see any of those here. I can only see conspirators from 3 major races are cooperating really well in setting up the judiciary. Whoever says 3 races can’t work together must be too stupid or too smart. Can be either both.

Thieves are getting bizzare each day. I fully understand if they have weird fetishes for women’s undergarments or my daddy’s smelly underwear if that thief is really desperate (a thief should always have plan B). But cactus? Some one freaking stole my cactus.

Previously, my mum’s orchid pot went missing. At first I thought some one was trying to play a prank but it’s really confirmed missing when my cactus went missing. Come on, it’s not like we are living in the middle of Sahara desert. It would be understandable if we are staying in a desert because a thief might stole them for the large amount of semen like water from the thorny plant.

Yea, it’s true that Malacca is hot but it’s certainly not as dry as Jelebu k? At least Malacca is still accessible to fresh water unless the Chief Minister decided to pee in the Durian Tunggal dam and claims some one has planted brain eating amoebas in it (pun intended). Poor mum had to hide her favorite plants inside the house.

Children are not the only one being kidnapped in Malaysia. Plants are also being kidnapped from their residence too. I would be traumatized if that evil perpetrator who stole my cactus is going to ‘impregnant’ innocent drones with its thorns. Petty crimes in this nation is getting weirder each day. But the thieves better beware because:-

I had a weird day at driving earlier today because there was this driver who panicked when she saw me driving from the opposite direction. I have no idea why she is waiting in the middle of the road. So when it was obvious I need to pass through that road, she panicked. She wanted to place her car in an empty space on her opposite. She end up hitting the other car that was placed in the parking lot. As a result, her whole bumper fell off and it wasn’t even a huge impact! She was driving a Proton saga. Sigh, Malaysian made cars are truly boleh man.

Uhh what’s the big deal of sending Bolehnauts to the space? It’s not like he’s a full fledge astronaut. People who owns astro tv at home are NOT astronauts ok? But yeah what’s the big deal when there is such thing as Space tourism nowadays? Unless it happens 20 years ago then there’s nothing much we can shout about. There is a sheer difference Space tourist and astronaut k? See? I’m not even calling them Bolehnaut. With all the public fund wasted on this guy, I don’t care if they are calling them Bazirnaut next.

You know what irritates me? When people use the “duh” (was this even a real word?) word at the wrong time. Give you an example.

Him:- Duh….. where you going today?

Me:- Uhh no where?

Him:- Duhhhhhh……. why no where? Don’t chu have a place to go duh………..

Me:- Is there any reason for me not going any where?

Him:- It’s boring to stay at home… duh……… Let’s go shake butt duh……….

Me:- I think you’ve just become the new ambassador of the kingdom of Duh.

Him:- Really? Gee thanks… duh…..

Me:- !!!

I ended the conversation after 20 minutes. There is no reason for me to participate in this ‘duh’ discussion any further.

I’m puzzled that despite the efforts in eradicating the habitat of mosquitoes in my housing area, there are still many of them crawling out from no where. It’s not surprising that this area was once declared the dengue zone due to the enormous population of mozzies. The authorities fogged the area twice in a week, and they often clear drainage on regular basis. So I’m baffled my area is still infested with mozzies. I am going to resort to drastic measures if such problem persists.

Is there any other better words than stupid to describe these people? I mean what kind of people who take tsunami warnings for sightseeing? Are they too used with the tourism feel in Penang or are they too tidak apa in such matter? Just because major natural disasters do not happen in Malaysia doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen in Malaysia one day.

Since the majority who flock to Gurney Drive is Chinese, maybe they are secretly hoping for a boat to be washed away to the shore so that they can take down the registration number for their lottery fix. Or maybe they are just too tired with life and think it is an effective way to commit suicide without feeling much pain because death is just a second away. Seriously I really hope the waves will come and wash them away to set an example for those who ignores the disaster warning.
